User Conference: Day 2

Well, the user conference is over, and what a day 2 I had.  It was awesome.  I learned so many different pedagogical users I hadn't considered before, I learned how to build questions that suit many differet kinds of learners, and I got see specific presentations that educators are using with their classes, as well as a video of one of those classrooms in action!  That was so amazing!  To see the students engaged like that not only gave me tons of ideas, but also helped me see the benefits of classroom technologies!

User Conference: Day 1... WOW!

Well, today was the first day of our user conference, and I mean it... WOW!  It was so great to meet everyone today.  Dr. Mazur's talk gave me so much to work with, and the breakout sessions not only taught me something, but made me walk away with a HUGE smile on my face.  I've been training people on TurningPoint for more than 3 years, but some of the ways it's being used out there?  WOW!  I can't wait to see the notes, etc., from the sessions I missed when they're posted.

My Halloween Trivia Presentation

Thanks so much to everyone today who was at my Training in Las Vegas!  It was great meeting you all!  Here's the presentation that we "played" with for a while.  Enjoy, and let me know how things are going for you as you use the system!

Anyone else who would like this presentation, you are also welcome to download it.  I put notes on it in the bottom of some of the slides.  Have fun!

Las Vegas User Conference Blog!

I'm so excited for next week's user conference in Las Vegas.  As a trainer with Turning Technologies, I often help people with ways to use our systems, so I can't wait to hear/see all the different ways people are using them and to share it all with you!

Happy Friday Everyone! We're in the home stretch to the National User Conference at UNLV. I've been working on this event for several months now and am excited to see everything finally come to fruition. While I know not everyone is able to attend the conference, I wanted to make sure those individuals could still get a taste for what our User Conferences are all about. Throughout the conference, I will be "tweeting"updates and hopefully start discussions about everything that is going on.

Dr. Mazur Article: Making Peer Instruction Work

We've just posted Dr. Mazur's 2nd TurningTalk article, Making Peer Instruction Work, which provides great strategies on how to successfully kick-off his effective teaching methodology with students.

In addition, Dr. Mazur will be one of our keynote speakers at our Higher Education User Conference at UNLV, Las Vegas and our Featured Educatored in our next newsletter!

Elementary Templates

Does anyone know of any sites that has already made powerpoint presentations for Turningpoint?  Or just templates?

I looked at this sight and used Question Point but their seems like there would be much more out there.

Conduct a TurningPoint Needs Assessment with your Staff

It is always a good idea to provide ongoing professional development to promote the use of technology in the classroom. The professional development team at Turning Technologies uses a Needs Assessment form to help determine which concepts the teachers need additional training.

Host Your Own Clicker User Conference

Considering hosting or co-hosting a clicker user conference with The Center for Teaching at your institution. The University of Iowa did this last Friday with great success and even opened it up to other Universities and Colleges in our area. Stephanie and Ron from Turning Technologies were on hand all day. Our keynote was Derek Bruff and other faculty from the UI. Check out the details at http://its.uiowa.edu/support/srs. Recordings will be available soon on the website. Hope to see you in Vegas!!!
